We had a lovely break at Blythwood Cottage. Elaine and Hugh are charming and helpful hosts who live in the adjoining property. The cottage is extremely well furnished and decorated, with comfortable beds and fully-equipped kitchen. The nearby Castle Cary is a beautiful village with many interesting shops, fantastic butchers and lovely coffee shops - handmade chocolates and home-made pies are exceptional! Lovingtons factory is at the end of the lane and they make exceptional ice cream! The Manor restaurant in Ditcheat has a wonderful menu and great local cider. Highly recommended for a peaceful break in lovely surroundings. Miss S, Holywood, County Down 24 February 2011
This is an ideal location for a peaceful relaxing break with access to many places of interest in the surrounding area. The cottage is most comfortable and beautifully maintained and my husband and I would not hesitate to book it again. Mrs R, Hinckley, Leicestershire 26 September 2010
This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in. It was immaculate, well equipped and in a perfect location. We had a warm welcome by the owner, who left some chocolates and a bottle of wine for us to enjoy, fantastic! Very much a home from home. Mrs. B, GRAYS, Essex 21 August 2010
A very nice spacious cottage in a peaceful location. We loved the animals especially Buttons the labrador(Pigs, sheep, horses, and hens) and the trampoline as well!
Cottage was well equipped and even had a selection of books, CDs and a list of DVDs if you wanted to watch a film. Also - Thanks for the wine and chocolates. Situated about 20 minutes from a good retail outlet if you like shopping. Also not far to Longleat which is a must see if you are down this way. We went to Weymouth a couple of times, the roads were pretty good only took an hour and was about 40 miles.
Mr F, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire 19 July 2010
Wonderful location, very quiet and peacefull for a relaxing break. Lots of things to do and see in the surrounding area. Hosts could not have been more welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending Blythwood Cottage to anyone. Mrs T, POOLE, Dorset 14 June 2010
If you like peace and quiet, in very pleasant and comfortable surroundings, Blythwood is highly recommended. Mr M, WORTHING 07 June 2010
We read the reviews of Blythwood and wondered if it really could be that good - well, it is. The cottage is spacious, well appointed and beautifully decorated throughout, and if you like peace and tranquility, this is the place to chill out.
We were lucky enough to have the sun shine all week, the birds sung, the honey bees hummed and a distant cockerel quietly crowed - heaven! Mr M, WORTHING, 06 June 2010
Our stay at Blythwood cottage was just lovely from start to finish - a lovely warm welcome from the owners, a very comfortable and well equipped cottage with everything you could possibly want, fantastic views, and we had great weather. Certainly one of the best holiday cottages I've stayed in, and I would particularly recommend it for more mature guests, (my mother loved the conservatory and the easy to handle stairs), however it would be great for anyone. Thanks for a relaxing stay! Miss W, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire 29 April 2010
The cottage was of a very high standard with excellent furniture and fittings. The welcome 'pack' of wine and Easter eggs was very much appreciated. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to others and hope to return ourselves in the not too distant future. Mr B, GLOUCESTER 13 April 2010
We were made very welcome at this very comfortable cottage. Both the exterior and interior were of top quality - you do not get your own conservatory in many other cottages! There are many interesting market towns to visit, and the Dorset coast is about one hours journey. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside and look forward to returning in the near future. Mr B, GLOUCESTER 04 April 2010
I would be ahppy to recommend this cottage to anyone, but particularly parents with a small child. The cottage had everything we needed including a microwave to sterlise bottles and a dishwasher so we weren't tied to the sink, and a washer-dryer than we used more than we thought. Mrs H, SEVENOAKS, Kent 09 March 2010
I would be happy to do so, but on another hand is so nice i may want to keep it to myself.......so its free when i want it again... Mrs G, SHEERNESS, Kent 08 December 2009
Any one who want to have a really enjoyable holiday will love this place, it's lovely. We would Rate this property excellent xxxxx 5 stars

A wonderfully relaxing location, the perfect dream cottage and very peaceful. The owners and their family were very welcoming on arrival and very friendly during our break. A very special thank you to you all for helping to make our holiday very special in a perfect cottage. We will have no hesitation in recommending it and we will be back again! B, HINCKLEY, Leicestershire 21 November 2009
For peace and quiet in an idyllic setting and for a quality and comfortable property this cottage would be hard to improve on. Mrs J, Porthcawl, Mid Glamorgan 17 November 2009
We have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful ,clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage nestled in the Somerset countryside. It offers peace, tranquility and is favourably situated to provide many interesting places to visit. We spent 11 delightful days covering Glastonbury, Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat, Bath, Bristol, Stonehenge, Weymouth and still left more unseen. Finally a big thank you to Hugh and Elaine, the owners who were very friendly and helpful yet never intrusive. Mr S, Doncaster, 27 October 2009
A lovely cottage, warm, clean and comfortable and a real home from home. Friendly owners and the wine and chocolates were a bonus. Well situated for visiting many places, Wells, Glastonbury, Bath, Tyntesfield and Weston Super Mare are all within easy reach, but Hornblotton church was one of the highlights of our week. Mr P, Leicester 19 October 2009
A perfect place to relax and get away from it all, but close enough to other attractions in the area. Cottage and owners were great, with a warm welcome upon arrival. Mr M, TAMWORTH, Staffordshire 26 September 2009
Blythwood Cottage has everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing holiday in Somerset. The hosts, Elaine and Hugh, are kind and helpful as are the rest of their family, including the dogs! The cottage is ideally placed for visiting the coast and countryside of Somerset, as well as Dorset if you fancy venturing further afield.
We had lovely days out at the East Somerset Railway, Wells, Brean Leisure Park (at the insistence of our 11 year old daughter!) and the Shepton Mallet show which happened to be on when we were there. Nunney village is also a beautiful spot with its own castle. If you like to eat out, then the Quarry Inn does splendid food at reasonable prices. We are looking forward to going back in the not too distant future. Mrs L, Woking, Surrey 24 August 2009
We have just spent a week at Blythwood Cottage in Spring and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find it was every bit as good, if not better, than we had imagined. It is well situated, close to all the places to visit - Glastonbury, Bath, Weston super Mare etc, but so lovely and peaceful. The owners were really nice, very helpful but not intrusive. It is all the little things which helped to make it memorable. For us it was the perfect place for a break and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We certainly hope to return later in the year! Mr B, Coventry, 05 July 2009
I would definitely highly recommend the cottage. It is beautifully furnished and equipped to the highest standard and the owners are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The setting is really rural but is close to many interesting places to visit. Mrs A, CATERHAM 09 June 2009
Having spent five glorious days at Blythwood Cottage, much of our return journey focused on how we would describe the whole experience. Many superlatives were used, idyllic and magnificent, being at the forefront. However we agreed that 'perfection' summarised our stay - perfect hosts, perfect cottage, perfect facilities and a perfect location as a centre for visiting the historically rich region, and enjoying the fayre on offer at the many local hostelries. A special thank-you to Elaine and Hugh and we will certainly be back! Mr C, NEWTON ABBOT, Devon 31 May 2009
This cottage is fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. Lovely quiet rural location, well equipped, comfortable and clean. The lovely warm welcome included chocolates and a bottle of wine. We rate this cottage 10 out of 10 and would love to go there again.
Lots to see and do in the area. We really enjoyed Longleat, Montacute House, Stourhead gardens and swimming at the pool in Wells. Interesting places to visit and wander round like Castle Cary, Wells, Bruton and Glastonbury. Little bit further afield for fossil hunting at Charmouth which was great fun and really interesting. Mrs A, CATERHAM, 17 April 2009
The cottage was extremely comfortable and in a lovely and peaceful location. Mr K, Reading, Berkshire 20 March 2009
The cottage had everything we could wish for. It had excellent facilities, nothing had been missed out. It was well furnished, clean and the owners were helpful and friendly. We couldn't recommend this cottage highly enough. Mrs B, Warrington 19 September 2008
We highly recommend this holiday cottage as everything was perfect. The cottage was furnished and decorated to an extremely high standard, it was very clean and in a lovely location. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful. Thankyou very much. Mr N, Cambourne 06 June 2008
